With March being National Nutrition Month, we wanted to focus in on diet and nutrition. A good diet with balanced nutrition creates a healthy gut and a healthy gut makes for a healthy body. According to medicinenet.com, the medical definition for nutrition is the process of taking in food and using it for growth, metabolism, and repair. This is exactly what we want to achieve! We want to fuel our bodies with the things that will keep it in balance and empower it to repair. The AIP Diet was absolutely instrumental in Jennifer’s health, healing, and remission.
You might ask yourself what the AIP Diet is? Simply put, the AIP Diet is a gut and inflammatory reset. It removes everything from your diet that is known to produce an inflammatory response for 45 days and gives your gut a chance to begin healing. By eating nutrient-rich foods and avoiding inflammatory ones, the AIP Diet aims to heal any holes in the gut. This is thought to help:
If you do NOT have any diagnosed Autoimmune diseases or Food Allergies, the AIP Diet can still be an effective gut and inflammatory reset for you. You should also be aware that just because you don’t have a test or blood work saying you have a food allergy that doesn’t mean that you are not intolerant of certain foods. If you have ever experienced any of the symptoms from our January 20th blog post, then you have experienced an inflammatory response!
If you have been diagnosed with an Autoimmune disease(s), research suggests that a diet that promotes gut health may be beneficial for those with autoimmune diseases. There is evidence that the AIP Diet may reduce symptoms of Inflammatory Bowel Disorders. More research is needed to say with certainty that the AIP Diet can improve symptoms of all autoimmune diseases. However, the AIP Diet is a healthful diet that people with autoimmune diseases may find beneficial. This diet may also reduce the need for certain medications or high dosages. Anyone with an autoimmune disease looking to try the AIP Diet should discuss this with their doctor in order to monitor any medication dosages.
Yes! During the first 5-7 days of the AIP Diet your body will naturally go through a full detox. This is a good thing and is a natural detox. Your body is, on its own, removing all toxins from your system. You need to expect to have some detoxing side effects; in detox, you will probably experience some things like headaches, diarrhea, or stomach cramping. If you need some help getting through the side effects that you may experience in the first 5-7 days, it is best to use natural plant therapies to do so.
